Most of the energy that runs our society today comes from fossil fuels. They are not in unlimited supply, however, and we should start now to find alternative sources of energy to prepare for what is to come.

Alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric are thought to be the forerunners in clean energy. Developing their technology so that the price of energy is lower than fossil fuels will be important for weaning us off of fossil fuels.

Other types of renewable energy are also being developed, and many of them seem very promising. One of these energies is wave energy, which is garnering much excitement for powering cities in coastal regions.

The energy in waves is very dense, so energy can be taken out of them with a relatively small power plant. Wave energy also doesn’t break like sun energy or wind energy may.

Australia, which is famous for its waves and surfing, has many of these wind generators in place powering homes in many of its coastal cities.

A wave power plant exists off the coast of a city just south of Sydney, about 100 yards off the coast. It produces enough energy to power 500 homes and desalinates enough water to supply those homes with fresh drinking water, as well. It weighs about 500 tons.

It is built to survive almost any major storm, though it is fairly small in size. It produces about 500kW of power and it cost $4.7 million to create.

Though it is still on the expensive side, as technology develops many believe that it has the best chance of any of the renewable energies out there to become much cheaper than fossil fuels.

The woodworking buff aught to be concerned about his or her workplace. The woodworker paid big bucks for that splendid ban saw, therefore, you should give it the extended care and effort in order to help it achieve more for you and run the distance. Your tools and workplace require real maintenance, and not just so that you can work more proficiently, but because your output will become more exact and as well your pricey apparatus will deliver more than that proverbial one hundred and ten percent.

It is vital to have a good dust gathering method in your workplace. Don’t try to be macho about it and disregard the specks disappearing inside your own repertory system. Wood dust is responsible for lung and skin nuisance, but the genuine hazard arrives from the mildew and compounds present on the specks of lumber. If these organisms get inside you, they can kill you. Clear out your grime and make certain you include a proficient and operational dust-aeration method.

The woodworking enthusiast will require a clean saw blade. If you are effective with soft lumber, the resin will harden quickly. To preserve your ban saw blades operating perfectly, you will have to clean them. Wood dust resin on the saw blade brings needless chafing, tremor, and high temperatures. There is a ton of merchandise at the local hardware depot or online intended as a clean-up for saw blades. Buying them is not enough. You have to actually use them.

Router bits also gather resin, and they require sporadic clean-up. The equivalent rules for bits pertain to the router blades. Again, the resin builds up, causes tremor, and leads to sloppy cuts. Numerous companies propose preservation kits to assist people with taking care of saw blades and router bits, but once more, the trick is to faithfully use the cleaning kits. Caring for your blades and bits may extend their life significantly. You also need to be aware of the need to grease the router bit point and bearings.

The flat surfaces in your wood shop require a real clean-up. I know you’ve avoiding the subject of clean-up, but it is a job to be completed regularly. Light oiling and clean-up of all surfaces benefit the appearance of your table and ban saw. Decline builds up on the outside of your table saw can show in mistaken cuts and other sloppy consequences. Clean-up leaks right away. Keep sawdust to the smallest amount possible by picking it up frequently throughout the day.

Clean-up your workplace and apparatus. It may not be your preferred thing to do, but it will save you hours and cash. Clean, preserve your tools, and they will cut more competently, with the result that you will use fewer supplies

These days, temptations are many; a new television set, DVD player, food processor, microwave oven, a dishwasher and many more things which are meant for our luxuries. Everybody have a desire to possess all these luxuries. We all earn only to lead a luxurious and happy life. But this is not enough. We should yearn for more. We should have all these luxuries in our house, but at the same time we should also think about the future and see that we have all these luxuries with us in the future also. Investments made in time will help us to maintain this type of life style for a long time.

You should discuss your plans about the life insurance policy like term life insurance with loved ones before you can put them in action. You should not make the final decision until everything is perfectly understood and read. You will get enough confidence to face all the financial challenges in your life and it will also help you to revive your energy level. Now you need not fret and you can keep your confidence levels high and even listening to your inner voice will help you to achieve more success in your life. Your resourcefulness and the spirit of moving ahead in life come what may, will be appreciated by others.

After investing in the life insurance policy, we will become more ambitious and we will do our job more sincerely. This way we can also try to keep a lid on our expectations and expenses. We can be more sure of our talents and prospective and we will be guided by our feelings, emotions, intellect and logic. We will proceed in our life more positively because we are aware that we are financially strong. We can get financial aid from the life insurance policy if we have any drawback in our life. This feeling will help us to be more confident and this will also help us to fight against the challenges.

For relaxation in future it is a must for us to in the life insurance policy. We will enjoy whatever comes to us and we can retain the attitude of gratitude. Everything will be perfect and creative in our life if everything is planned properly. I invested in the universal life insurance policy when I managed to handle my responsibilities and I took the charge of my father’s business. My father was very particular in his savings and investments.

We should be precise and clear while taking the instructions from the life insurance agents. We should make our own decisions when investing in any particular policy because we have to pay the premiums according to the terms and conditions without any failures. As long as we play by the rules, everything will be fine but if for any reasons we fail to pay the premiums on time then the policy might lapse. So we have to be very particular with our payments towards the life insurance policy which we have bought. For futher assistance you can also go through term life insurance, which will help you in many ways.

Are there any differences between the two technologies?

by Armadeus Cornelius

Are there any differences between the two technologies?

When it comes to flat screen TVs the two technologies LCD and Plasma appear very alike with almost lifelike images and the ability to be hung on the wall. Although LCD tvs and Plasma tvs panels may look very similar in the stores, there are various differences between the two technologies.

How does an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) television work ?

LCD is an abbreviation for Liquid Crystal Display. A LCD tv screen is made up of two clear panels between which is a matrix of colour liquid filled pixels. These pixels respond to a small voltage which makes them change state by twisting or untwisting which allows light to pass through them or to be blocked depending on the state of the pixel. This process of twisting takes very little power. The pixels are either red, green or blue and they are structured in a matrix of millions of pixels to make a picture. The coloured pixels of the panel are illuminated from Behind with a back light to show their colour, and areas of light and dark, depending on how the pixels are twisted. Lcd screens are available in small sizes for watches up to 108 inches for large televisions. Manufacturers such as LG, Samsung, Hitachi, Panasonic, JVC, Pioneer, Sharp, Toshiba, Philips and Sony have a range of lcd televisions available.

How plasma tvs works

A Plasma tv screen comprises of millions of tiny ‘light bulbs’ which are small glass cells filled with inert gases such as xenon and neon. These cells are lit by a current being applied to electrodes in the gas filled cell and its atoms become ‘excited’ to a plasma and emit photons of ultraviolet light. These photons in turn hit a phosphor coating which emits visible light. The colour of the visible light emitted by each cell depends on the three different coloured phosphors - green, blue and red, and can together generate billions of colours when combined. As with the LCD tv screen, the millions of cells combine to form the image on the screen. Currently the only manufacturers of Plasma tvs in the UK are Samsung, Philips, LG, Panasonic, and Pioneer. Plasma tvs are available in sizes from 32 inches to 150 inches.

            Performance and Picture quality compared

Brightness

The picture on LCD tv screens can be brighter than Plasma tvs. Depending on where the television is located and what is being viewed will determine how this difference in screen brightness is perceived. However both Plasma tv and LCD tv screens are capable of producing brightness levels that in normal viewing conditions are in excess of what is needed.

Contrast Ratio and Black Levels

The contrast ratio is a measure of the difference in light and dark tones that a panel can deliver - in general a high ratio means greater details can be discerned. Historically LCD tv panels have had a poorer contrast ratio than plasma tvs because the backlight bleeds through darkened pixels and lightens the image. New advances in technology have created techniques to avoid light leakage, and increasecontrast ratios so that they are more comparable with Plasma tv, but still not as good. Because each cell on a plasma tv is able to be switched off rather than blocking the light as per LCD tvs the blacks are blacker. For a television picture, the black level is very important because black encompasses the entire spectrum of colour. And so, the deepest blacks create the richest colours and hence more realism. Devoid of deep black levels the colours look more ‘pastel’ like. Typically the black on an LCD tv screen is more ‘grey’ when compared to the plasma tvs black.

Colour Saturation Levels

colour saturation is a measure, in the presence of grey shades, of colour purity or how accurate the colours are on the screen. The higher the colour saturation the more accurate the colour rendition. With blacks that aren’t as black the grey shades will be higher resulting in a lower colour saturation. Plasma offer better levels of colour saturation due to better black levels because of their ability to switch of pixels that aren’t in use, preventing diffusion of colours by stray light emissions. This results in hues and tints that are more life like colourful.

The Colour Gamut

Is the breadth and number of colours that can be displayed. The most costly models are now claiming to have colour gamut’s getting rather close to the full spectrum for plasma tv and LCD tv. In fact most plasma TVs tend to be better than most LCD tvs except the top of the range ones. With the cheapest LCD tv models more often than not offering a colour gamut that isn’t as good the higher LCD tv models. So by and large the plasma tv has the best colour gamut.

Resolution

The screen resolution is a measure of the total pixels that makes the screen. The higher the definition, the higher the resolution and greater the detail and sharpness will be in the picture. LCD HDTVs have a resolution 1920 pixels x 1080 pixels or 1080P are, size for size, at a lower price than comparable Plasma tvs. 1080 is the vertical reolution and the P is for progressive scan because it isn’t interlaced. The best Plasma tv and LCD tvs screens above 37 inches are HDTVs with the same 1080P resolution i.e. there is no difference. At sizes of 37 inches down to 32 inches the best LCD tv screens are still 1080P set but the Plasma tvs are lower resolution HD ready 720P (1280 pixels x720 pixels) models. There aren’t any Plasma tvs smaller than 32 inches, but there are many LCD tv models.

Refresh Rate and Response Time

These two attributes in combination determine how fast a moving picture a screen can reproduces without the image blurring. Response time is a measure of how quickly a screen can change when an input is received. Historically LCD tv panels had slow response times which was the limiting factor causing motion blur because each pixel has to go from an on state, to an off state, and back to on in order to refresh an image. Improvements in pixel response times on LCD tv screens means that the actual response time isn’t the main cause of motion blur, its generally caused by the refresh rate, or the frame rate.

Lower model of LCD televisions and Plasma televisions operate at a frame rate of 50hz or 50 frames per second. In fact until recently, before 100hz models were launched, all models operated at 50 Hz. Now on more expensive models of LCD tv and Plasma tv motion blur is reduced with the addition of 100hz which create an extra frame that is placed between the normal frames. Because a normal signal is 50 Hz an additional middle frames is created by signal processing software that interpolates what the extra middle frame should look like. This results in picture motion that is more fluid and looses little if any definition. However the best Plasma tvs still show fast moving images better than the best LCD tvs but the difference is narrowing because the LCD tvs response time has reduced and 100hz and 200hz models have been established.

The Viewing Angle of the screen

This is a measure of how far off axis you can view the picture before it fades. The viewing angle of a Plasma television is between 160 degrees to 180 degrees. On an LCD television the viewing angle is about 100 degrees at which point the picture dulls.

The screen surface of lcd tvs and plasma tvs

A plasma tvs screen is a shinny reflective surface which can suffer from glare depending on the room conditions, whereas LCD tv screens have matt finish that reduces glare.

Screen Burn-in

This is characterised by a ‘ghost image’ of a previously displayed static image that had been displayed for a prolonged period of time and is still present. Even if the screens image is changed from the original ‘ghost image’ or removed it is present for the rest of the plasma tvs life. For LCD tv screens burn-in isn’t a problem no matter how long the static image is displayed. Nonetheless the burn-in risk is overstated and improbable in normal viewing conditions.

Screen Image retention

This is often confused with burn-in which appears to be similar but it isn’t permanent. The ‘ghost images’ vanish quickly with image retention when a new bright image appears or after a few seconds. For technical reasons image retention is normal and present on Plasma tvs but hardly ever noticed. This effect can be minimised by having a ‘break-in’ period for the first 100 hours of the plasma tvs life. During this period you should watch programs that fill the whole screen and don’t have any bright static images such as station logos or news scrolls at the bottom of the screen. You should also reduce the brightness and contrast to a middle level. The latest Plasma televisions have circuits built in to them to greatly reduce the chance of either image retention or burn-in.

Power consumption

LCD tvs have a backlight that is constantlyon and uses almost constant power. LCD tvs usually have an adjustable back light which uses more power when it is on a high setting and less on a low setting. The power required to modulate the pixels is infinitesimal.

On a plasma tv the gas is charged in each of the pixels to emit light. When more light is in a scene the plasma tv uses more energy. When the brightness is high the plasma tv use more energy and when the brightness is low the plasma tv uses less energy. So the power consumption will vary depending on what is being displayed.

On paper it may seem that the Plasma tvs consume a lot more power than LCD tvs. Plasma tv manufacturers have a tendency to quote the highest power usage at full brightness. But the plasma tvs power power consumption varies depending on the signal and the amount dark and bright areas on the screen. Studies have revealed that when viewing predominantly dark programs and movies the average power power consumption of an equal sized plasma tv is actually lower than LCD tv. On the other hand if lots of cartoons and sport are viewed then the LCD tv uses less power. Consequently on average with varied viewing content there is little difference between LCD tvs and Plasma tvs. Plasma tv manufacturers are shortly going to be launching models that will cut the power consumption by over half.

Life expectancy

Plasma tv manufacturers are at this momentquoting statistics of 100000 hours for the life expectancy. This represents a usage level of just about 11.5 years of continuous use. Thus any concerns regarding the life expectancy of plasma tvs being less than LCD tvs are unfounded.

Conclusion - which should you buy?

Both technologies have benefits. Plasmas tvs typically have a superior subjective picture with healthier black level, higher contrast, and superior colour rendering than LCD TVs. Whereas LCD TVs have higher brightness, freedom from screen burn-in worries, and are lighter and thinner. This is not always the case sincea good LCD TV might have a better picture than an average or poor plasma TV. Although on balance I believe that a plasma tv is the better option with added advantages. In the end you get what you pay for so spend as much as you can find the money for on you preferred format.

Many people don’t have the basics of financial education. The average school student usually doesn’t learn much beyond basic accounting and how to write a check. You can’t assume that basic math will be enough to prepare a person for “real world” personal finance and investing. If schools don’t provide this financial education, who will?

How about Indiana Jones?

Look Out for You

Whether Indiana Jones is negotiating buyers’ fees or trying to get off of a conveyor belt going to a rock crusher, Indiana Jones is a guy who knows how to take care of himself. You’ll have to learn to do the same thing if you want to take control of your finances.

The first step toward having a comfortable retirement is to put the 10 percent rule into place. This is one of the oldest and most efficient ways to figure out your finances. You should pay yourself 10 percent of your paycheck before doing anything else. This is the money you will use for investments.

This rule is popular for several reasons. First of all, taking 10 percent from your monthly income won’t have a major effect on your lifestyle. This is a goal that everyone can accomplish. Secondly, this is a percentage so it can adjust to any change in income that you might have. This eliminates the popular excuse of putting the money away when you have it. This also is a step that you can do immediately.

Take on the Biggest Enemy First

Indiana Jones always follows the rules of any bar brawl: He takes out the biggest guy first and works his way down from there. The general idea is to take on the most dangerous person when you still have the energy to take him down.

You should have the same approach for your debts: Prioritize them and eliminate them one by one. Here are the steps to decide which debt should go first.

1. Take on the highest interest debt first. This could include your credit card debt or any other high-interest loans.

2. Pay off your debts that don’t give you a tax deduction. These debts include lines of credit, bank loans, and car loans. They are any debt where you can’t write off the interest on your tax returns.

3. Tackle the debts that have tax write offs. Student loans would be an example of this type of debt.

4. Get rid of your mortgage. A paid-off house has more advantages than a mortgage.

You should not invest before you have gotten rid of your high-interest debt. Let’s look at this basic example.

When you pay yourself 10 percent of your monthly income, you have $200. You owe $400 on your credit card. What should you do with this money?

You can either invest it in an index fund or in a bond and receive between 6 and 12 percent interest by the end of the year. Your credit card debt, however, has a 13-percent interest rate. That interest costs you $52 a month. You will not make more in your investment that you are losing in your credit card interest.

Debt also puts pressure on your investments. If your debt is at 8 percent, you will need to have an investment that brings more than 8 percent. It can be difficult to find an investment that pays that much. Therefore, your first and second priority debts can be a major challenge when you are investing. Tax-deductible debts and mortgages should not stand in your way to investing.

Dodging Boulders and Ducking Arrows

You could wonder why Indiana Jones is as nervous facing an arrow as he is facing a gun or a boulder. After all, you probably could handle a few arrows without getting killed. You can’t say the same for getting shot or being crushed by a rock.

When you have more arrows sticking in you, however, you’ll get slower and your enemies can catch up to you. That makes it logical to fear all of these dangers. Why do people ignore this logic when thinking about saving money?

People often make two major finance mistakes. Buying debt is the first mistake. People buy things that will cost them dear, and continue to prove expensive for years. Unfortunately, people are not as skilled at getting assets as they are at getting debts. Cars are a primary example of this. Not only do cars depreciate in value, but the cost of the car directly influences your monthly insurance premiums.

It isn’t just the big expenses that can bring people down. The second biggest mistake that people make is that they don’t control their finances. The small expenses add up evn on 0% balance transfer cards: People buy lunch instead of pack one, go to the latest movies, drink fancy coffees, and rack up other expenses. People who receive bonuses don’t always invest, or do balance transfer on their credit cards, or save more than they did before they had the added income. Small expenses can be like Indiana Jones’ arrows that try to bring him down.

These two mistakes can be a fatal combination. The rolling boulder is the more expensive lifestyle and the debts that you buy. How much you make doesn’t matter if you don’t save any money. You need to get out of the boulder’s way and start minimizing your expenses.

Walk Off like Indy

If you’ve talked your debt, started minimizing your expenses, and been paying yourself every month, you may believe you’ve earned the right to walk away. Life isn’t like the movies, though, and you can’t just end your journey at this moment. You’re just at the beginning of your great adventure of saving and investing. The challenges don’t go away as your journey goes on - it just becomes easier to find the challenges.

It used to be that a garden was simply a place where you grew some varieties of fruit, vegetables for the table and perhaps a few flowers for decoration. These days there are a myriad of landscaping ideas from which you can select one to suit you. Garden landscaping has evolved into a number of purposes and styles together with the changing ratio of humans to space available and the evolution continues. Some gardens are designed with wildlife in mind. Others are places where food is cultivated, or a place to relax, perahps just an area specifically for pleasure such as a flower garden. With these in mind, what do you want to include in your garden?

Garden Landscape Ideas

There are any number of “tricks” you can use to design a garden that is in tune with your personality and requirements. Each garden has five basic elements and you should remember to include these in your garden landscaping plan: color, form, line, scale and texture.

Color needs no explanation. Whilst some people like the idea of using one color throughout, it is usually best to include a number of colors in your garden design. Balance is the key here, so take care to ensure that the colors you choose do not clash or compete for attention.

Next is form, which is mostly to do with the size and shape of objects and how they are balanced in the garden. Just the simple aspect of the size and shape of leaves on a tree can have a dramatic effect on your design.

After form comes line. This means that your design should be such that it “flows” with the movement of the eye. The placement of plants and arrangement of borders will direct the eye around the garden.

The next element is scale and this is concerned with the size of your garden plants as they relate to the design. This may include the giant White Bird of Paradise tree or the small ficus bonsai tree. Once again, balance is important: you do not want a garden with all the small plants grouped together in one area and the large plants including the Giant Bird of Paradise in another. Included in scale are other objects in the garden such as sheds, pools and ponds.

Texture is the final element and it also requires balance. One texture throughout the garden would be bland and uninteresting. Conversely, too many textures can be “busy” and confusing. Create texture in your garden so that it “flows” from one area to another.

The final personal touches to individualize your garden come after all the necessary specifications are completed to your satisfaction.

If you’ve always wanted to create a unique style in your home, then get to know the basic designs to perk up your windows by creating your own window valance. You don’t need to be an interior designer to get a good grip of the styles that will be presented but a keen observant eye, a sense of style and a love for the art is all you need.

First, you have to know the basic fundamentals in creating your window valance.

Take a look at your window and consider the function of the design by suiting it to your needs without compromising the beauty of the background or even the view from the outside. Once this is all determined, you can now take into account the different types of window valances out there from curtains, to blinds and even to shutters. Again, these are all determined by carefully examining the position of your window with regards to your home and how it will appeal with the rest. A keen sense of your home’s interior design will be of great help as you create the perfect window valance.

There are many styles to choose from and this will set the mood of your home depending on the ambiance that you want to evoke. The following are just examples of the commonly used Window Valances. Balloon Valance, as the name implies it is indeed a type of valence in which you create a balloon like arrangement with your curtain. It is easy, you just have to fold twice the fabric which you’re going to use and then try to tie them up together in increments to create formation that will have an effect of balloon. Once you’ve created this, you can use light fabrics or try using newspaper and tissue to make it look stuffed.

Another style that is commonly seen in theater production design is Swag Valance. This type of window valance gives off a light and airy feeling to the whole design. To create this you’ll be needing the following; brackets to hold the swag, a pin if needed and of course your choice of swag, the best to use is the light weight fabrics. This will create an illusion of flowing and by putting the swag inside the bracket ,this will create sheering pattern. This type of valance works best to houses with wide windows.

Pleated, is a window valance that works best by hiring an experienced seamstress to do the job for you. This type requires careful cutting and keen selection of fabric to use. It is very important to create a steady pleat on the fabric that will create balance and make it stand out. If you decide to use this design to your house then you’ll be requiring a sturdy board and bracket to hang.

In the world of interior design, considerable amount of thought is given to the window. The window treatment can give your home that added pizazz or it can create a look of not just right. These procedures can be done by anybody but it is always best if you have the knack in decoration. This will definitely give your design a uniqueness all its own. Every design should be matched with your requirement and how it will blend the theme of the room. The window should be a connection to the outside and into your room and not just another part of the house.

Electricity is the backbone of our economy and our everyday lives. Production of energy is therefore very important to maintaining our style of life. Electricity is currently made mainly by the burning of fossil fuels (coal), nuclear fission, and with energy derived from water and wind.

To generate electricity, in many cases we use energy to drive turbines which have magnets in them. As the magnets spin, they can induce current in a surrounding wire. These are a few ways that we make electricity:

Burning fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and petrol. They can be burned to boil water in large furnaces or along heating pipes, and the heated water vapor can be used to drive large turbines. The products of burning are generally very hazardous to the environment. These fuels are also not renewable because they took millions of years to be created in the first place, so we shouldn’t be depending on them for much longer - or they will run out.

Moving water. Hydroelectric dams are set up to channel water down into turbines so the falling energy of the water can drive them. Dams can also control and restrict the movement of water bodies which can be beneficial. The only problem is that local ecosystems may be affected.

Over ninety percent of all the alternative energy in the world is hydroelectric.

Wind power. Wind turbines can use propeller-like blades to directly turn a motor which will generate electricity. These wind generators may have to be high up in the air to gather enough wind in some places, but they are very environmentally sound.

Nuclear fission. There is a lot of energy in matter, and some unstable elements, like uranium or plutonium isotopes, can be used to generate a nuclear reaction which is then used to heat water, create vapor and turn turbines.

By solar power: Solar energy uses solar panels to gather photons of light, which contain energy. They hit electrons in the panel and give them energy to move through wiring and create an electrical circuit.

When purchasing a Miele canister vacuum cleaner there are many different cleaning heads to choose from. But many consumers are confused by the amount of cleaning heads and are not sure whether the cleaning head they are looking at is proper for their floors and/or rugs. Miele makes 4 different types of cleaning heads that all perform differently and are made for specific house styles. This article will tell you which cleaning head is ideal for your household.

One attachment made by Miele is called a Powerhead. Using a motor, the powerhead turns a brushroll at a high velocity to pick up debris found in your rugs. The electric to run the motor is integrated into the hose and wands for many of the Miele machines today. Miele powerheads use a cogged belt that does not break if a sheet or blanket gets caught in the brushroll. Instead the machine will turn off and simply is resetting the powerhead will allow it to work again. This saves you the time and money because the belt and motor will not break on you and you will do not have to replace it.

There are 2 Miele Powerheads available on the market today. There is one powerhead that is small and lightweight to get around and that is called the Miele’s Midsized Powerhead. The Midsized powerhead is great for medium-sized to short-sized pile carpeting with little to a fair amount of pet hair. The Mid-sized powerhead has all-rubber wheels so you can transition from carpeting to bare floors without harming your floors. Miele also makes a large-sized powerhead, which is meant for a house with high-sized to medium-sized carpeting with high traffic areas and large amounts of pet hair. The large-sized powerhead also has rubber wheels for hard floor cleaning.

What is a Miele Turbohead? A Turbohead is like a powerhead however there is no electricity driving a motor to make the brushroll spin. The suction actually causes a set of turbines to spin, which also causes the brushroll to spin. The result is a spinning brushroll that works off pure mechanics, no electricity!

Is a Turbohead right for my Household? The Miele STB-205 Turbohead is great for a household that contains area rugs or low pile carpeting with no pets. The Turbohead is lighter to push around than a powerhead but the trade off is it is not as powerful. A Turbohead cannot be turned off so it is recommended that you purchase a Floor Brush to go with it if you have bare floors. The Miele Antares and Miele Pisces come packed with the Miele STB-205 Turbohead.

Miele has another attachment, known as the Rug and Floor Head, which has a switch to make it ideal for either carpeting or hard surfaces, such as wood or tile. This attachment, like the Turbohead, does not use electricity and does not have a turning brush.

Your home is ideal for a Rug and Floor tool, provided it has a mix of area rugs and bare floors. If you have mix you will enjoy the switch on the bottom of the head that allows you to change your head to be ideal from area rugs to bare floors or vice-versa.

Miele also makes a bare floor brush, known as the Parquet Floor Brush, which has only gentle bristles on the bottom protect your bare floors from harm. This Parquet Brush also has a knuckle that is capable of twisting all around to get under and around chair legs and furniture.

Is a Miele Bare Floor Brush right for my household? A Miele Parquet Floor Brush is great for somebody that has only bare floors. This includes tile, wood, linoleum, marble etc. The Miele Floor Brush cannot be used on carpeting or rugs, so if you do have carpeting or rugs you need to purchase a Turbohead, Rug and Floor Tool or Powerhead in order to effectively clean your household. The Miele Capricorn, Miele Venus, Miele Gemini, Miele Aquarius, Miele Antares, Miele Pisces, Miele Callisto and Miele Plus all come with a Miele Floor Brush. The Miele Sirius and Miele Luna only come with the Floor Brush.

Whether you have only hard floors, only rugs or a mix between the two, there is an attachment for you. Miele makes one of the finest vacuums as well as attachments and when you purchase a Miele you will have a machine that will last you for years and years.

by Keith Markensen

Landscape lighting, often utilitarian, is planned to blend unnoticed into the garden. It is the illumination, not the fixture, which should be apparent. In effect, it is accent lighting for the outside of your home.

The point of landscape lighting is to embellish the features of the exterior surroundings, both natural or manmade, adding a beautiful and dramatic after-dark element. Good outside lighting can make your home a beautiful star in the neighborhood.

Low-voltage outdoor lighting setups are quite popular today. These systems usually are purchased complete with the transformer. Landscape lighting is both practical and beautiful. It can improve safety and security, so that people can move around your home safely after dark.

Particularly for illuminating water features, which can be dangerous after sunset, and for highlighting footpaths and stairs, landscape lighting is a practical addition to your home. It will improve the value of your property, and is safer to use than normal main lighting. In addition, landscape lighting can beautify your home, bringing bushes and plants to life.

Solar powered, wireless lights are especially good choices for landscape lighting. These light store solar energy captured during the day, and then, when it becomes dark enough, a sensor turns on the exterior lighting automatically.

However, place them carefully, as they must be in an area which receives plenty of sunlight during the day. Solar powered systems do not require any wiring or transformers, which can be costly. This system is also easier to install, because it does not require digging under pathways or other features to run wires. Because manufacturing techniques for this new technology are improving, costs are falling, making solar lighting a very popular choice for garden lighting.

Solar lighting is available for driveway lights, accent lights, lanterns, fountains, and spotlights, among other choices. They can easily be installed in many garden locations, as long as the location receives enough sun. However, some users feel that this lighting is not efficient, because it gives a small amount of light, and becomes dimmer as the stored solar energy runs out during the night. Despite this, most of today’s solar lighting gives off a bright light, and can be a very effective choice. Solar lighting has been gaining in popularity recently.

There are many designs for landscape lighting, but you should think ahead of time when preparing your landscape. For example, you should think about setting up empty conduit for future landscape lighting, or decide on places for the installation of fixtures and footings. When planning your landscape, be sure to account for enough fixtures to provide the level of light you desire.

In the natural landscape, most lighting is normally supplied by the sun. As a result, dusk can dramatically alter the appearance of your landscape even if you use led solar lights. Landscape lighting can restore much of the beauty that is lost in the dark. You can choose landscaping lights for many moods, which can be changed by the intensity or color of the light, as well as the style of fixture you select. Keep in mind that you can always add lighting with holiday lights or solar fixtures tucked around your flowerbeds.

To run your lights, you can utilize timers or sensors. This way, you will avoid wasting power by running your lights during the day, and you will not forget to turn them on.
